Street Fashion Workshop

  Hello Everyone,

Just dropping by to share some images I shot over last weekend in Liverpool and The Wirral on Adrian Crook’s Street Fashion workshop.

We had a great 2 days, the weather was rather worrying as it was predicted rain all over the weekend :( .However me and Adrian have done many street fashion shoots and we know to just go with it and work around the weather and also use it to your benefit.

Even though it did rain from time to time we still managed to shoot most of the day, using a mix of the streets and a derelict location found by Adrian.

We all came away with some great images.

These images are from Chris Sou who came over from Belgium to join us on this workshop.

Styling was kept simple, black and clean lines for the streets which also worked well for the derelict location, making for a great contrast.

Hope you enjoy looking through these images by Chris Sou and if you would like to join me and Adrian on future workshops please email adrian@gofototravel.com and visit Gofototravel.com

Thanks

Urbex Girl

Last Friday I shot with photographer Gary Price in Birmingham. Me and Gary have shot together on several occasions since 2013. It is always great working with Gary as he understands how I work and lets me add my own spin on the story we are telling but he still directs me into the perfect composition with the right mood.

For this story Gary suggested we do something a little more raw in fashion, not too posed but as if he is just capturing my character in her own world, a grungier backdrop…so a Urbex environment was perfect for this idea.

We used a derelict building which Gary had found the day before. I am not too sure what is was, some sort of factory maybe?? I don’t know but it was perfect for what we needed and just an amazing space…we could have shot there all day, so many area’s you could use.

The overall shoot was brilliant, loved working with Gary and also Alexei Svechnikov and his friend Pete who assisted on the shoot, thank you so much for an amazing day.

  Hope you like the images…

Liverpool Street Fashion Workshop

I was so happy to be back in my home town of Liverpool last weekend, it’s always nice to catch up with friends and family as-well as fitting in some work in between.

Myself and Adrian put on a Fashion workshop in Liverpool on the Sunday, we used a few locations near the Albert Dock and then went across the River Mersey to the Wirral. We shot in a very cool location that Adrian had found the day before. The location was some old work yard that was probably something to do with the docks, it is just about to get demolished, so we had a great chance to get in there and use it with permission from the site owners :)

We wanted the styling for this shoot to be simple and chic with clean lines but still having an urban feel to the looks.

It was a great day of teaching and all the photographers worked really hard and came away with great images.

Here are a selection of images Adrian took on the day as demonstration shots…

‘I AM WARRIOR PRINCESS’

Hello everyone

I am so pleased to bring to you these images from a fashion story we did a few weeks back. I am also stoked that they are now published on Stump Magazine in an exclusive editorial-i-am-warrior-nsfw

This day we shot 2 editorials, one was more fashion orientated (which I am dying to share with everyone) and ‘I AM WARRIOR’ being a  more fantasy/cinematic based story.

I worked with Adrian on coming up with the concept, we wanted to do something tribal and feral…a little nod to One Million Years BC but still remaining stylish and cool.  Bringing a character to life through the images, along with styling, hair/make-up and the right location was key.

Myself and Adrian found the perfect location, which could quiet possibly pass for a desert somewhere in America but no it’s in Wiltshire ;)

James Mcknight or The Dark Knight of make-up (as I like to call him) transformed me into a tribal warrior princess and was on hand at all times to keep me looking my best while in character. James make-up was amazing as usual and he brought the look together with skill and style.

The chain dress was made by Adrian’s fair hands himself.

I have to say anything that is character based and dramatic is something I just love doing. I don’t get to do images like these ones often as you need a full team and there is usually a lot of planning that goes involved, it can take weeks or months in-fact to get the shoot off the ground. However they are always worth waiting for….

Hope you enjoy them.

The New Classic

Hello everyone…Hope your enjoying the bank holiday weekend :) I’ve got a couple days off myself, enough time so I can do the cleaning, washing, shopping and being a normal person before I head off to Holland next week..yay.

I have had so much fun working the last 2 months, it’s been a little full-on… however I have enjoyed it immensely. I have even got to work alongside some other beautiful models which has been fantastic and I look forward in sharing the images with you all soon.

Going to keep this one short and sweet and share a lush fashion story by the talented Jamila Photography.

We shot this set earlier in the year and I am so pleased with how it has turned out. I always say you can’t go wrong with simple styling, some people have said to me ‘why do you wear suits and black a lot?’ well …because it looks good ;)

Enjoy

90’s Back ‘Let me be your Fantasy’

Yesterday I woke up with an urge to try a new style on myself. I am always looking for something different to try as I have done so many styles over the years, so I can get bored doing the same stuff at times.  Also I believe if you have an idea in your head you should get it out and express while it is fresh, rather than leave it too late because sometimes the energy and passion has gone by then.

Fashion wise, I love the latest throw back to the 90’s, I’m a child of the 90’s and this was when I first discovered fashion/ film and music.

5482b602b8352_-_mcx-90-fashion-fresh-prince-belair-s2

The 90’s was when supermodels like Cindy Crawford and Linda Evanglista-who famously said she wouldn’t get out of bed for less then £10,000 dollas a day.  When Winona Ryder and Gwen Stefani were style Icons and when we all watched Fresh Prince of Bell-Air. The Spice Girls were always number 1 on the top 40,  Clueless and The Craft were my favourite films, the decade smelled of CK One and when Cadbury’s Freddo’s where 10p, who remembers that ;).

5482b6037ec9b_-_mcx-90-fashion-gwen-stefani-s2

So yesterday I styled my hair and make-up with a little hip-hop/Dance twist and a nod to the 90’s style and I absolutely love the images.

Adrian shot them yesterday morning for me and I am so pleased with how they turned out.

If I had to choose a song that goes with these images this would be it- Enjoy…

Let me be your Fantasy.

101 workshop with JRT Vintage

I have been working with John Tuckey for a couple of years now and we have had some great shoots, each one being different from the last. John’s classic style always remains in his work and his love for vintage and Hollywood styles clearly shows.

Working with John is always about getting into character, creating the correct style and getting the lighting perfect for that authentic look.

I am now delighted to announce that I will be modelling for John on his 101 workshop 4th April in the beautiful location of Earlswood, Warwickshire.

Sweet Female Attitude

Last year I worked with more women than I have ever done before. I do tend to work with men more often, there seems to be more of a male presences in Photography and more male photographers hire models from my perspective, which is fine I love working men.

However it is always a joy to work with other women in this industry especially ones who support each other, I think this is really special and something to be encouraged amongst young women.

There is some sort of stereotype that models are bitchy with each other, slagging each other off at any opportunity they get but that hasn’t been my experience at all in this industry, I am not saying that bitchiness doesn’t go on ( we all know it does from time to time). All the Professional models I have met so far in all honesty have been hard working, professional young women who speak highly of each other and generally get along. The girls work dam hard, they don’t have time to gossip and moan about one another, they are too busy working. Models also help each other out, I myself have recommended other models for jobs, given contacts to girls for work and vice versa models have helped me out, I just think it’s the way to be, if we work together we can achieve so much more. It’s so nice to meet the other girls, last year was great because I got to meet and chat to a lot more although this isn’t an often occurrence. Sometimes I just bump into a model when she is leaving a studio and its just a ‘Hi-Bye’ sort of thing. I consider it a treat to meet another girls and have a good chat with them, girls who do the same job as me, travel as much as I do and who are away from home as much as I am. Models are probably the only ones who know exactly how I feel in this industry. I suppose because we are all spread out and trying to tell our own stories and promoting ourselves that we are considered competition with each other, I never feel that way. Everyone is different and unique with something of the own to offer a client/photographer.

Also working with more female photographers has been fantastic, though I treat male/female photographers the same. It is nice to be photographed by a woman from time to time. Women have a different approach to photographing other women and I feel as the industry is dominated by men it always a refreshing change when a woman takes my image. I know from my own point of view in my photography (http://carlamonacocrook.tumblr.com/), it can seem intimidating for a woman to take charge, pick up a camera and created her own work as well as promoting it in this male dominated arena.  That’s why I love seeing woman strive in this industry… it inspires me to do the same.

So I am feeling all ‘Sister’s are doing it for themselves’ aren’t I lol …(cue Aretha and Annie)

Eurythmics_e_Aretha_Franklin,_Sisters_Are_Doin'_It_for_Themselves_(Eddie_Arno,_Mark_Innocenti)

I am going to share the work of a lovely young talented Female Photographer called Jamila I worked with last month.

I love these lush images from Jamila.. she captures a women’s sexiness, vulnerability but yet the model still looks strong.. I love that… watch out for more of her work in the future.

Thanks for reading
